The free, one-stop, all-encompassing Web and telephone service provides the latest on transportation services and conditions statewide. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The phone service is an automated, interactive voice system reachable by landline and cellular phones and driven by a user's voice or phone keys. 511NY features nine different calling regions statewide with unique calling menus tailored to the transportation services available within each region. Also free within the 511NY system is a personalized TransAlert subscription service that provides e-mail or cell phone text notifications of significant incidents on major highways and the greater transportation network in the state.
