Marilyn E. Saviola, Senior Vice President for Advocacy and the Women’s Health Program, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Marilyn was an inaugural inductee into the New York State Disability Rights Hall of Fame, and has been the recipient of several honors and awards for her tireless work as an advocate for people with disabilities.  Most recently, in July, the New York City Health + Hospitals System recognized Marilyn for her work expanding access to healthcare for people with disabilities.

She was the Executive Director of the Center for Independence of the Disabled in NY (CIDNY) from 1983 through December 1998.  Under her leadership, the agency became a premier Independent living Center, recognized for its expertise in advocacy and services for people with disabilities.

This Thanksgiving, we join many others in expressing our gratitude for Marilyn's life and sorrow for her passing.

Information about services for Marilyn will be posted on the NYSILC website as soon as it is available.
